Ever since our community was formed, we have dedicated ourselves to living among the people and caring for those in need. It's a calling, a deep desire to help that draws us. That desire is something we all have in common. We come from many walks of life and now carry out our ministries with whatever gifts God has given us, whether we are administrators, educators, artists or even steamboat captains.
You might have seen us use the initials CSJ when referring to ourselves. This stands for the Congregation of St. Joseph. Our particular congregation is called the Sisters of St. Joseph of Medaille, named for our French founder 350 years ago. We are one of the American branches of the Sisters of St. Joseph worldwide. We are more than 9,000 Sisters working in a variety of ministries in many cities. As our membership grows, we are excited to think where our ministries might take us.
