SISTERS OF ST.
JOSEPH THROW
RAGING PARTY WITH CAJUN
FLARE
CINCINNATI, OH - On Friday, June 16th, leave your Midwest roots behind and become a "Ragin' Cajun." This fund-raising event, featuring a "Taste of New Orleans," benefits the Sisters of St. Joseph of Medaille. Sponsored by Franklin Savings & Loan Co. and T.P. White and Sons Funeral Home and WNKU, it takes place at the Athenaeum of Ohio on Beechmont Avenue in Cincinnati.
The Patron Party will be from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m., and costs $75 per person. It will include an open bar, hor's devoures, and a jazz piano player.
"During the Patron Party, we're having (wind-up toy) cajun pig races,"explained Judy Sandquist, Regional Director of Development for the Sisters. "We thought racing little toy pigs would be another fun way to celebrate the city's porcine heritage."
The Evening Party is from 7:30 to 11:30 and costs $35 per person. Cajun cuisine will be served, courtesy of the region's finest restaurants and chefs; including gumbo by Regina's of Lexington, red beans and rice by Copeland's, king cakes by Chef Francis Smith, and seafood corn chowder by Chef Jo Remotigue. Hurricanes, beer, wine and soda will be available.
The evening will include dancing and live entertainment by Robin Lacy and DeZydeco. Special guest Sister Helen Prejean, author of Dead Man Walking, will draw the winning raffle ticket, a trip for two to New Orleans. Raffle tickets may be purchased at the door.
"We're going all out for this, " said Patrick Sheeran, co-chair of the event. "The decorations will be over the top - red pepper lights, a giant parrot in the courtyard, Mardi Gras beads, guests will feel like they're in the heart of a New Orleans festival!"
"Ragin' Cajun - A Taste of New Orleans" will benefit the Sisters of St. Joseph's Vocation Development program. The Sisters have been active in the Greater Cincinnati area since 1893.
